Wielkopolska Region/Regional Centre of Social Policy in Poznan

  • Presentation of your region and organisation:

Wielkopolska Region is one of the largest regions in Poland. Its area is 29 826 km² and its population is about 3.49 million. It is one of the most dynamically developing regions in Poland. Poznan – the capital of Wielkopolska – is an important economic, scientific, financial and cultural center and it has 534,813 inhabitants.

Regional Centre for Social Policy in Poznan (ROPS) is a regional self-governing organization directly accountable to the Wielkopolska Region Management Board. ROPS carries out regional self-government tasks in the field of social policy, particularly in social care. ROPS sets of social policies aimed at equalizing the level of life of the region interacting with various actors in the municipalities and counties. Inspires and promotes new solutions in the field of social welfare, active integration, social economy, social innovations and services balancing the needs in this area and diagnose social problems.

The main aim of ROPS is to create regional directions of social policy aimed at equalize conditions of life of inhabitants of Wielkopolska Region.

  • Presentation of your ongoing work on integration: 

In 2020 Wielkopolska Regional Government has intensified work on cohesion system of the migrant policy. In December 2020 by a resolution of the Parliament of the Wielkopolska Region a new strategy – The Social Policy Strategy for Wielkopolska Region until 2030 was adopted, where the migrants are one of the most important target group. In 2021 – through project titled “Building structures for integration in Poland – stage II – piloting of Centers for Integration of Foreigners (financed from national AMIF funds) ROPS has opened 5 sub-regional Centres for Integration of Foreigners in Poznan, Kalisz, Konin, Leszno and Pila.

  • Your role and expectations for the EU-BELONG project:

ROPS – as a PARTNER of the EU-BELONG project – would like to learn from international cooperation, experience and good practices how to successfully develop regional and local strategic documents for the integration of foreigners, taking into account the current situation, increasing the knowledge and competences of representatives of local governments and local and regional institutions in the field of support for migrants, and making migrants aware of available forms of support.
