Poznan

About the region

Wielkopolska is one of Poland’s largest and fastest-growing regions, covering 29,826 km² with a population of 3.49 million. The Regional Centre for Social Policy (ROPS) in Poznan, accountable to the regional management board, leads social care initiatives. ROPS develops policies to improve living standards, collaborating with municipalities and counties, and promotes innovations in social welfare, integration, and the social economy. Its main goal is to create regional policies that equalise living conditions across the region.

Our intercultural integration approach

During the course of the project, Poznan established a multi-stakeholder platform unifying regional and local government units, Civil Society Organisations, educational and cultural institutions and public service units.

Regular consultations led to the publication of the “Wielkopolski Plan of Action for People with Migration Experience”, that operates at the sub-regional level, encompassing diverse perspectives from urban and rural areas. It focuses on social assistance, active integration, social innovation, and balancing the needs of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, traumatised individuals, single women, those at risk of exclusion and homelessness, and refugees.

More information about the plan can be found in the document “Building Inclusive Societies: Regional Strategies for Intercultural Integration”, while the original version in the local language is accessible at “Get the Tool” page of the EU-Belong website.

Looking ahead

Poznan decided to start the implementation of the established plan with the pilot project “Mobile Integration Centre and supporting activities”. A detailed evaluation will be performed before the end of the project.
