ISTITUTO COOPERAZIONE ECONOMICA INTERNAZIONALE (ICEI)

About the organisation

Established in Milan in 1977, ICEI focuses on solidarity, international development, research, and training. Originally founded to address global inequalities, ICEI now supports vulnerable populations worldwide and has expanded to include local cooperation in Europe, Italy, and Milan. Its projects, involving communities, local authorities, universities, and businesses, aim to improve socioeconomic conditions and foster inclusive, sustainable societies. ICEI’s initiatives span intercultural citizenship, labor inclusion, sustainable agriculture, and responsible tourism, with a priority on vulnerable groups, especially women and youth.

ICEI aims to build a more equitable, sustainable, and inclusive society by promoting intercultural citizenship and fostering diverse, cohesive communities. We focus on safeguarding rights and enhancing participation by collaborating with local authorities, strengthening civil society organisations, and engaging new generations.

Our technical expertise in the EU-Belong project

ICEI is the technical partner in charge of the monitoring system, with a special attention on the implementation of the pilot projects, and a member of the Advisory Committee. As part of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Programme (ICC) and coordinator of the Italian Network, our interest is the opportunity to test and validate the intercultural approach at a regional level.
